No More BS: Eat food you like

It’s really hard to stick to a diet if you hate the food you are eating. We love to eat, and if eating became something we dreaded… life would be much, much harder.

The three key rules about eating food you like (while trying to lose weight):

  1. Make sure that you are (mostly) sticking to your diet. So if some food item you love is not part of your diet, it’s okay to cheat and eat it once a week. But try to limit yourself to once a week.

  2. Eat in moderation. If you are following an Intermittent Fasting diet and decided to drink six chocolate milkshakes during the eight hours you are eating… well then that defeats the purpose of your diet (i.e. calorie cutting).

  3. Think about lower-calorie, healthier foods that you love. And eat a lot of those.

I love non-fat, flavored Greek Yogurt (which also happens to be decently filling and high in protein), so I eat four Greek Yogurts everyday. I also love popcorn, but I make sure to buy Skinny Pop popcorn as a snack. There are countless options for healthier food substitutes. They might taste 75% as good as the original… but they also only pack 25% of the calories.

You should still eat the food you enjoy - just be smart and do it in moderation.
